5 places to find open sandwiches – and not just on New Year's Eve!

Liberec delicatessen

A classic delicatessen with all the trimmings – they already have 16 locations in Prague, with a large selection of classic sandwiches, a few seasonal variations or experiments, poached eggs, fried ready meals, delicate salads and fresh pastries as well as desserts. There is also coffee and lemonade. Have a standing snack here, or take one to go.

Zlatý kříž

Where to go for a sandwich? "Definitely Zlatý kříž!" any experienced sandwich fan will answer. This delicatessen in Jungmannova Street offers sandwiches in three sizes, so there's something for everyone. A local speciality are the savoury aspik cakes, and even sausage flowers!

Ovocný Světozor

Who wouldn't know the legendary confectionery, which has had a firm place in the Vodičkova Street arcade since the 1970s. In addition to sandwiches, they also prepare other pastries and platters here. You can order their range in e-shop – either individual sandwiches or a spread of snacks for parties. Everything can be picked up at the premises – but be careful to choose a time slot. Better do it as soon as possible, some dates are already booked!

Sisters

The bread shop from the Together chain is located in Long Street and its shop window looks a little different from the traditional delicatessens. Their open sandwiches have unusual fillings and the bread is also available in a gluten-free version. Those who watch their figure will also find it to their liking. Sandwiches, including canapés, can also be ordered in e-shop – add pickled cheese or rollmop herring to your basket for a New Year's Eve treat. There's no better cure for a hangover!

Savoy has three types of open sandwiches made with the best ingredients – Prague ham with potato salad, an egg sandwich and one with ricotta, goat's cheese and beetroot. You can order directly in the restaurant or – if you want more – on savoydomu.cz and pick up from the hatch.
